Aloha!!
One of the must-do adventures in Maui is the "Road to Hana" drive.
Instead of driving the 620 curves and 59 one-lane bridges ourselves, we booked a tour van and left the driving to them! We were able to relax and enjoy the lush rainforest, picturesque scenery and waterfalls.

Thanks to recent rains the waterfalls were even more beautiful:
Several of these little guys were hanging around us in a parking lot. I thought they looked like cardinals but had never seen one like this.
One of them even walked right up to me. Easy picture!
I searched later (no Internet on the drive to Hana) and found out these are Red-crested cardinals. These birds are found primarily in Brazil and other South American countries.
Our tour included entrance into Waiʻānapanapa State Park. We spent time here to enjoy the black sand beach:
We even had an opportunity to walk through a lava tube:
Our lunch stop was at Koki Red Sand Beach:
Another scenic view:
Since we're doing all if the touristy things, we attended a Luau.
A Hawaiian luau wouldn't be complete without the presentation of the roasted kalua pig:
We had a beautiful sunset during dinner!
Then we had the entertainment!
Wendy tried her own hula moves:
We had another beautiful day so we started out early for our drive up to the summit of the Haleakalā volcano. Here is a view from about 8000 ft. in elevation.
We saw several of these birds at the summit which is 10,023 ft. in elevation! This is a Chukar which is a member of the pheasant family.
Here are a couple of pictures of the Haleakalā crater.
Next we visit Kauai, the "Garden Isle".
Wendy & Penelope want to say Aloha to their fans!
