Rome, Italy

We're staying in an Airbnb near the Piazza del Popolo, one of the most famous squares in Rome. This picture of the Piazza was taken from a vantage point in the Villa Borghese Gardens:

We visited the Borghese Gallery where there are many works by Gian Lorenzo Bernini. Here is a life-size marble sculpture of David by Bernini:

The Pantheon is also close to our "home".

What amazes me the most is the brilliant construction techniques! After almost 2000 years, this is the largest unreinforced concrete dome in the world!

And the interior is beautiful as well:

We took a wonderful tour called "The Untold Story of the Jewish Ghetto" which included a great photo stop for a view of the Roman Forum.

There is still much to see and many places on our list that we will not be able to get to. Thank goodness we made a stop at Trevi Fountain so I could toss a coin in as insurance for a return trip to Rome!
