Rome at night: ⛲️

It doesn't get very dark until about 10:00 p.m. so we had a late evening exploring Rome at night. There are lots of street lights so it's easy to get around. We felt very safe as well. There were lots of people out strolling, enjoying drinks with friends and taking in the beautiful fountains, just like us!

There are 3 lovely fountains at Piazza Navona!

Fontana del Moro

The Fountain of the Moor depicts a Moor in the center of the fountain. The Moor is holding a dolphin by the tail while water flows from the dolphin's mouth.

Fontana del Nettuno

Fountain of Neptune features Neptune fighting with an octopus in the center. He is surrounded by sea nymphs, sea horses, putti and dolphins.

Fontana dei Quattro Fiumi

Fountain of the Four Rivers is a work designed by Bernini. It represents four major rivers of the four continents through which papal authority had spread: the Nile (Africa), the Danube (Europe), the Ganges (Asia), and the Río de la Plata (the Americas).

This is an enormous fountain, so my picture shows only a part of it!

Strolling pass the Pantheon:

We returned to Trevi Fountain which is the largest Baroque fountain in Rome.

Fontana di Trevi

The name of the fountain is derived from the Latin word trivium which means "intersection of three streets".

We completed our evening stroll with another visit to the Spanish Steps. The steps lead to the Trinità dei Monti church at the top.
