Mobile is full of history and lovely people! We began our exploration in the Downtown area where we saw a few of these beautiful murals!
Known for its Mardi Gras Carnival, Mobile has a park that pays tribute to that event.
To learn more history about their Carnival we headed to an incredibly special museum.
What a special treat we had when visiting the Mobile Carnival Museum, even during COVID-19 times!
We were treated like royalty – the woman collecting the admission fee took the time to give us an introduction and take our pictures on one of the huge floats exhibited! There were no docents available on the day of our visit; however, she called a curator to come out and give us some history of the Mobile Carnival and the Museum. Later this wonderful woman even suggested places for us to have lunch and called the Oakleigh House to make a tour reservation for us! After more of our Mobile adventures, we learned that people here are just gracious Southern hosts!
These are actual floats that have been in the Carnival parade!
The costumes are fabulous, and it looks like EVERYONE participates, including children and pets!
Instead of confetti or beads (or maybe in addition to these?) Moon Pies are tossed to parade goers! Of course, we had to get one for ourselves to complete our Carnival experience!
More fun in Mobile next month!
