Our first goal is a bucket list of places in the United
States. In August of 2017 we took an
Alaskan cruise. My husband doesn’t pack
light and we take LOTS of pictures, especially of sculpture:
Our Celebrity Cruise ship was
to leave out of Vancouver, so we spent a few days there before setting
sail. A must see is Butchart Gardens in
Victoria and be sure to have high tea at the Empress Hotel!
On the cruise, my dream was to see whales, bears and
glaciers!
We saw a bear while on a hike in Icy Strait Point …
We took a wonderful tour in Juneau that was labeled as a
Photo Safari. We had a professional
photographer give us pointers on taking pictures, especially of whales. On the whale watch part of that tour we had
humpbacks on one side of the boat and Orca on the other side. Look at the whale-of-a-tail shot I got on my
phone camera!
And we did see glaciers!
The Hubbard Glacier was spectacular, especially with beautiful
snow-capped mountains in the background!
We’ve always had the best luck with taking the tours through
the cruise line. They have already been
vetted and we don’t have to worry about missing the ship!
The scenery in Alaska is breathtaking, definitely worth the
journey!
