Avebury is very close to Urchfont so we took a trip there instead of visiting the more popular Stonehenge site.
The stones at Avebury were built during the Neolithic period (~2850 - 2200 BC). Inside of the circular bank of stones lies the small village of Avebury - including a church and a pub!
We visited on a Bank holiday and were able to enjoy a leisurely walk around and in between the stones without crowds and tour groups! It's truly amazing to experience this historical site in such a beautiful area and at our leisure. A real HIDDEN GEM!
