Our next “home” is in northern Indiana, in the town of Osceola. We were lucky to stay in a lovely Airbnb right on the river!
During our stay, we visited nearby Notre Dame University.

Hesburgh Library Mural “The Word of Life” is 132 feet high, 65 feet wide and contains 81 types of stone from 16 countries. Since it can be seen over the Notre Dame Stadium north end zone, it is known by football fans as “Touchdown Jesus”!
In the town of South Bend we found the Studebaker National Museum which explores the story of the automotive and industrial history of South Bend.
The Collection includes objects designated as “National Treasures” including the carriage Abraham Lincoln rode to Ford’s Theatre the night of his assassination, and a carriage used by the Marquis de Lafayette during his farewell tour of United States in 1824.

I was excited to visit a different Amish area and found that the best way to explore the communities was to search out the Quilt Gardens along the Heritage Trail! We began at the Visitor’s Center in Elkhart and visited the towns of Bristol, Middlebury, Shipshewana, Goshen, Nappanee and Wakarusa. What a wonderful day trip this was!
We returned to Elkhart on another day to visit the Ruthmere Museum Campus and the Hall of Heroes Superhero Museum.
Ruthmere, formerly the Albert and Elizabeth Beardsley Residence, is a three-story Beaux-Arts mansion built in 1910.
