It's been great to be back home in Texas during the holiday season! There are still many places to see in our own home state, and many favorites to revisit.
Now that winter is here, my thoughts turn to spring in
Texas. Spring is my favorite season in
Houston. The Museum of Fine Arts, Houston has 2
house museums, the Bayou Bend
Collection and Gardens and Rienzi. Both are fun to explore year-round; however, the
best time to go is in the spring to see the gardens! I have a special fondness for the Bayou Bend
Gardens as that is where my husband proposed to me. There are beautiful gardens like this
butterfly-shaped garden:
sculptures like this cute little deer among the azaleas:
and tons of beautiful flowers, especially azaleas in late
March/early April:
This path leads to Lazy Lane. Now wouldn’t you just love to live on street
with that name!
Houston Museums:
There are so many gems in Houston – small museums, cultural
centers and folk art experiences! Here
are a few that I was able to visit before leaving Houston. Why do we always wait until we are leaving to
explore our own cities?
