Murals:
Houston has some fantastic murals! We spent a day searching out as many as we
could find in the inner city. Here are
just a few that I wanted to share:
And here’s a cool mural in Rosenberg, Texas!
They have a fun
Railroad Museum there.
It’s especially fun to go during RailFest.
It’s easy to spend a day looking at model trains and waving
to the conductors of real trains coming through town. There are also fun shops nearby and you can
walk across the street and have a fabulous ice cream concoction at Another Time Soda Fountain
and Café.
Treats:
Speaking of food, Texas offers a wonderful diversity of
restaurants and wineries. There are too
many to name, so here are some of my favorites that I often think about and
miss as we travel:

Painted Churches:
We spent another day exploring the Painted Churches of
Texas, near Schulenberg. These churches
feature amazing works of art painted by Czech and German immigrants over 100 years
ago. Most are open during the week. Although we saw several in one day, this is
really a great 2 day trip so you can fit in some of the local wineries. The Whistling Duck Winery in Weimer, TX was
one of our favorites.

If you don't care for wine, there's a great little brewery in Shiner! Be sure to take their tour, it's one of the best we've ever taken.
Texas is so large and there is so much to see here! We still have a few places to explore before
we head west!
